Hi,
I recently fitted a phone cradle to the phone prep in the arm rest, so it would charge my phone and use the cars ariel. All seemed to work OK but yesterday while dialling out the phone connected to number but with no sound then suddenly lost all connection with the blue tooth (message saying the phone might not be connected properly). The phone reconnected the blue tooth and it works fine (address book, etc.) but there are now no bars lighting up on the mmi screen for the car's phone reception. It's charging the phone in the cradle and everything works fine except it seems only to be using the phones ariel.
Audi Allroad 3.0tdi 01/12/2006. MMi High. Phone prep low.
Have run software update months ago. Would running that again help?
Any ideas would be gratefully received.
Thanks
I have a similar problem in my A4, no bars showing, I tried connecting another phone, that one works so I assume my troble is with the phone.
Have you tried another handset ?

Hi kite,
Just tried another phone, bingo the bars are back. I had jumped to the conclusion that the problem was with the car, probably some expensive module, so it's a relief to know it's just the humble phone. Shame I just got a cradle for a phone thats playing up!
I must read the manual and see what the signal bars are actually indicating and see if there are any settings on the phone that I could change.
Many thank's for the advice.
I have just re-booted the phone I was having trouble with and I now have everything back working.

I will give that a go. Re-boot, is that battery out leave for a bit and restart? If that doesn't work I will see if there is any firmware updates for it.
Thanks again
I just turned my phone off for 10 mins, removing the battery can't hurt.

which phone cradle did you get and how much did you pay? Also, have you managed to get the SMS to work (i.e. read for the MMI screen)

Hi joshA6,
The cradle is for sony ericsson k800i. From what I understand, to get full use of all your phones functions on the mmi (sms etc) you need a phone with sim access profile. In your phones blue tooth menu, look to see if you can switch this on. If it isn't listed as an option on your phone then it does not have this profile software and will instead use handsfree to send phone no. list and basic functions to the car. Sony's do not have sim access, most new phones don't have it, some Nokia's do. Audi list so many phones as being compatible with their cars but don't say which can be used with full functions! Mine is basic bluetooth, charge and use of car arial only. By the way, after new software down load and reboot to phone, which made no difference to the bars on the reception signal lighting up, suddenly started to work again on a journey to the coast this weekend???
Price for cradle £30 on ebay. £90> from Audi.
