Hi all,
been looking at a 2004 B6 1.9tdi 130 that looks good but has airbag light on.
cd changer was not hooked up & glove box front had been replaced. hear this is weakness anyway.
I asked bout airbag light & he said he it always there but he bought car from a dealer so am surprised dealer would sell it with it on.
anyway it wouldnt have passed the 3 mots that he had put it thru - so am suspicious.

thinking maybe water got in due to blocked bulkhead as cover was not there at battery. how much could i expect to fix airbag light - as seems a nice car otherwise.

Or should i stay well clear???

Airbag light can be a few things. Most common is loose connection under driver seat. If your getting it checked in a garage it's error code 01217. Get them to clear the code and if the light comes on straight away it's more serious but if it stays off for a bit it's the connection and can be fairly easily fixed.

Sorry not much help I know.

thks for reply. i have asked seller to confirm fault codes - hopefully he will.

also ther seems to be more of a rattle frm engine wen idling but goes away when rev'd up. when pulling off from stationery its there.

wonder is it the dual mass flywheel, what do u think?

Have read the same myself, defo sounds like dmf. Have a 1.8T myself. Might be worth leaving that one alone, the bills are starting to mount up by the sounds of it.

it also will need timing belt as has 108000 & air con needs gased or could be something else

yeah they r mounting up although i can do all work myself except for gasing air con & air bag but i do plan to buy vag com for air bag.

those dmf range from 250 to 400 squid on ebay - think 4 this car would be around £350.

brakes also need freeing out as they are not great, service history says it had calipars replaced in 2009 but back discs would need changed.

what value would you put on 2004 130 SE with these issues - is £4000 too much

Airbags aren't on MOT iirc, so he may not be telling porkies.

yeah friend told me that today - my mistake

I had the same thought last year and paid loads to get an airbag light fixed on mine - then realised it's the abs light not the airbag one that gets checked on the MOT.

Doh.

- is £4000 too much

Even doing the work yourself, from what you've listed, it could
still cost around £800 to put the car right.

Try and get it for a figure closer to £3000.
