Hello all, i have my 8v gti that wont start it was sat for about 6 months charged the battery it ran i drove the car about 200 meters then let it tick over and after 2-3 minutes of ticking over it cut out and now i cant get it started.
It was very low on fuel
I have put fuel in it, i can hear the fuel pump prime but all it does is turn over and will not fire!
It also has a spark!
Not sure if its a clue but when it cut out the oil pressure buzzer came on?
Look forward to peoples advice

Does the fuel pump run all the time the ignition is on?

No i dont think so but the pump sounds no different to the other mk2's i have had!
Should it be running all the time?

I put another fuel pump relay as i had one that i knew was good!
Is there a chance its the engine earth?

If the engine earth was bad the ECU would be toast and the fuel pump run all the time.

If it was sat for 6 months with next to no fuel, is there not a chance it has pulled some muck up from the tank and blocked the fuel filter?

It has fuel up to the fuel rail

So it has fuel at the rail and a spark so the fuel isn’t being allowed in so there is no injector pulse. Check that the (red/yellow?) power feed wire at the fuel rail has a fuel pump running (so under cranking) 12v.
