Hi all,

First post on this forum so hope you enjoy this one. I have a 2003 A$ Quattro and I want to get rid of the concert radio and replace it with a Sony MEX-R1 DVD/MP3 player i have in the garage as the supersensitive volume control is doing my head in.

The radio has a single colour blue/white head unit and whilst I'm happy to keep the red dash LED's I thought i could replace the Radio Climate Control Module LED's with white ones using another CCM from a breakers.

Removal of the radio and CCM I can get my head around but I've heard that if you replace the CCM with one that isn't from the original car then some kind of anti-theft nonsense stops it working.

Is this something you can get round? my m8 has a vag-com thingy that seems to allow you to do a lot of stuff, is the CCM recoding part of that or more in-depth?

Thanks in advance,

Monkfish

Hi, welcome to the forum.

It's not anti theft, you just need to tell your replacement CCM module which car it has been put into, i.e. the ventilation system will work differently depending if it's placed in a saloon or cabrio. Also, if you get a climate control module from a Nov 04 onwards car you will need to wire in a relay to make sure the rear heated window works - Nov 04 onwards modules didn't have the relay in for some reason. I have the wiring diagrams if needed.

To tell the climate module what car it is in (using vag-com/VCDS) you need to: Open VCDS > Select > 08 Auto HAVC > Coding. There are 5 digits, leave the first two a 0. The 3rd one is either 0 or saloon/avant or 1 for cabrio, the 4th one is 0, the 5th one is eith 0 for no sunroof or 1 if you have a sunroof.

Save that.

Then go into adaptation, go to channel 91 and enter 26467 and save it.
Than you're done.

As for changing the LED colours, let me know how that goes as I may be interested in trying that!

Hope this helps
