We are going on a cruise for three weeks, and the car will be left in a dockside car park.
Any suggestions for what can be done to minimise the risk of a flat battery when I get back.

3 options i can think of---
1-join the "aa"-"rac" or similar who would then get you started should any problem arise
2-stick a spare battery and jump leads in the boot-in case it doesn't start
3-get a mate to meet you on your return-(if local port)-he could then jump start or tow you home.
mind i would like to think that my bora would stand for three weeks with no probs,
regards,
stewy.
p.s. enjoy the trip

These cars have a very clever system of shutting down electronic stuff over time so as when you do have these layups there is still enough power on return to start it - the electric 'whatever' may not work for a bit but it will start. Explains it in the manual from what i remember worth a look. Ive just been away for almost a month and started fine first time on return with all gadgets active.

Yep it states in the manual (A6 anyway) that a period of resting then it shuts down systems. I left mine for 3 weeks and fired straight up when I came back.

Just make sure you have interior lights turned off and accessorys removed from the 12v ports.

mac/nic - we had 4 weeks in Aussie last year with my car on the drive - just left locked - started first time we got back - no problem atall - in fact i think we have done that twice on this car - both time for a month to Aussie.

Thanks to all for the response, it looks like my concerns were unfounded.
The car is only a year old, so if it doesn't start I can always call Audi!
