Hi guys, my air con is smelling like wet dog/wee!! read a few bits on various sites but just wondered if pollen filter replacement would solve the prob??
If so where is the best place to purchase or is it a case of going to Audi to buy one?
Also I heard there is a can of something that you place in footwell with engine on and air con on recirculation etc and this may solve prob
Any ideas?
Cheers

I had a smell of eggs in my A6 a while back and it turned it there was bacteria in the pipework and a aircon clean/service sorted it. Forget how much it was but Audi done it.
I'll find the invoice and post the price.

Audi charge around 40£ for the aircon clean service.I would just replace the pollen filter first as it's the cheaper option.clean the the pollen filter housing before you put the new filter in.what I also do(might seem a bit strange to others)is to spray the new pollen filter with my favourite perfume before I put in.everytime I switch on the aircon I get the smell of perfume coming inside the cabin.hope this helps.

The perfume won't kill the bacterias that cause the smell in the first place, so all you're doing is masking the problem. The simple solution; go to Halfords, buy a Comma air conditioning cleaner aerosol, and follow the instructions.

I replaced my pollen filter last year and sprayed some Dettol (from a Dettol aerosol) into the inlet before replacing the filter. No problems at all since.

I had an unpleasant smell from my air con when I bought the car. The pollen filter looked clean (car had only done 20k miles) so tried Wynn's air con cleaner. Cost me £2.50 at a car boot sale and now the air con smells ... well, like fresh air !! Best £2.50 I spent. I took the pollen filter out and sprayed in the intake with the blower on full. Did the trick and I'll definitely do it annually now. Neil
