Most dashboard lights - not - coming on at all

Hi !

MY 1ST POST!

AUDI A6 1997 AUTO [C4 - PLATFORM]

CAUSE ---
1 CHANGING GEAR LIGHT NEXT TO THE AUTO GEAR STICK
---POSSIBLE SHORT CIRCUIT

ISSUE ---
1 MOST DASHBOARD LIGHTS - NOT - COMING ON AT ALL,
2 GEAR LIGHT NEXT TO THE AUTO GEAR STICK - NOT - COMING ON AT ALL


WHAT WORKS ---
1 DASH - SIGNALS,
2 [MILEAGE + TRIP COMPUTER - WORK , BUT NOT WHEN ANY TYPE OF FRONT LIGHT IS
ON]
3 ALL FUSES OK DRIVERS SIDE , UNDER BONNET [2X 15 AMP], 2 ON PASSENGERS SIDE INSIDE [50 AMP & 30(OR 20) AMP - OK

--what i forgot to say--

--the radio comes on and works - even lights up and says tape on its lcd screen , but the night time illumination for its buttons dont come on, when any head light is on

--the air conditioning works and even lights up and says 25c & fan speed on its lcd screen, but the screen does not get brighter like it used to when any headlight comes on.

--the air conditioning buttons DO lights up when any head light comes on





--i have replaced--


--all fuses with new ones

--both break bulbs (they have a double filament) they act as break + night driving lights



I been on another website and some on said their american car did the same thing, they found it was the "headlight switch". ONLY difference i think is that person has a light sensor.
