Hi Guys,
I have recently had a new turbo fitted to my 2003 A4 1.8T Quattro after the last one blew. I had it repaired as cheaply as possible but it sounds like the turbo is spooling too early and it generally sounds quite loud. I was wondering if this could be down to a split hose but I am not sure where to look for this? Could it be anything else?
Thanks

Cheaply wat did you expect was it s recon unit the actuater has a screw like bolt on it it has to tested and fixed at the right position or it will either open to early or to late best to take it back were it was done and tell them to sort it out

Well, when I say cheap, it cost me £1200. The exhaust was salvaged but I needed a new intercooler and turbo and cat etc. Long story really..... It blew when I was travelling down the M1 so I was quite a way from home. The AA towed it to the nearest garage where the repair was done. I just dont think it sounds right? It seems to make a lot of noise and I think it is sucking in too much air or that air is leaking out of it somewhere? That is why I thought there may be a split hose that wasnt replaced. I am not sure really unless it is like you say and because the previous unit didnt work properly, I am not used to the noise it is supposed to make?

to be honest they dont make much noise
how does it drive
why did you change exhaust ?
the ic hose may be split or not tight
theres a few pipes thet could be split without seeing or hearing it its hard to say

The garage managed to keep the same exhaust by draining and cleaning the oil out of it. Where are the hoses you have mentioned and is there an easy way to tell if they have split at all?

The noise you can here could be a tiny imperfection on a turbine wheel.

I will try and get a recording of it and put it on here. What is the easiest way of checking the hoses to see if any are split?
