Hi All,

I am new to the forums, and I shall post up an introduction after sorting this. :)

I brought an Audi A3 2004 Plate yesterday at an auction, because I had sold my Vauxhall Corsa D VXR Replica (58) the other week because it was boring me to be honest.

Anyway, I have wanted an A3 for a wee while now but I have not gone and brought a brand new one because I am younger than 21 I can't really get anything decent bar a 1.6 so if I'm going to be spending 25k I want something with a bit of power! :) so role on December 2011

I love the car, but the 4 spoke steering wheel really does annoy me! I would much prefer a 3 spoke steering wheel..

Does anyone know, 1) where i can get one from and 2) are they easy to replace? / and can you replace it?

Many Thanks for any help,

James.

If you mean replacing it with a 3 spoke wheel with a 'shield shaped' airbag then no you can't swop it without messing about with the airbag wiring.

This is because your model has a single-stage airbag and the newer ones are dual stage. I wouldn't advise you even think about it !

You may be able to chage it to a 3 spoke wheel with a sort of triangular shaped airbag and there are loads on ebay usually. You need to check that your steering control module and slip ring are suitable before you buy.

To do that will require a scan using VCDS to check the part numbers.

Nothing straightforward on Audis mate - sorry !

Thanks for your reply, I didn't think it would be straight forward to be honest I just think the 4 Spoke Steering Wheel looks pretty naff so just wanted to change it with a 3 Spoke Audi Steering wheel that may of been compatible!

I guess I shall just have to ignore it :)

Cheers,

James.
