have an audi a4 avant 2005, it has what o can only describe as a wobble when am idling , say at lights, it seems wobble from side to side, fine when driving , sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesnt!!
I asked the garage when I had it serviced He said Id be best taking it to Audi and then can have a look. Nothing is showing on the diagnostics.
thoughts ?

I had this on my old a4 1.9tdi 130. Exactly the same, car would change rhythm when idling and sometimes shake the bones outta me.
Every garage I ever used would spot it but none of them knew what it was. Every service at Audi (5) I asked them to have a look, they could never find anything wrong.
Six years later I come to part ex it and the guy inspecting it says it's a faulty injector, only running on three cylinders and didn't believe that audi hadn't diagnosed it.
Well whatever it was it never caused me a problem other than more frequent hose and clutch replacements, apparently due to the excessive vibration.
Wish I could give you a more technical answer, but I don't have the know how.

ha, ok, thanks for the reply.
Another common problem!
Are the injector (s) dear ? is it a big job ?
A garage said it may be the fly wheel or the injector buit without further investigation and more money he could not tell which!

Not sure what engine you have, and I can only really comment on my model (2.0tdi 170).
It is an expensive job and for mr I'd probably be looking at a bill of anywhere between £800-£1000 from what I've read.
I must point out that I am no mechanic, far from it but on my old car I chose to leave the 'wobble' as it didn't cause me a problem. As I said earlier, it remained that way for six years.
I'm not advocating leaving a problem to get worse, but it might be an option for a while whilst you ready yourself for the bill if it's a big un'.
