Hi Guys,

Used this forum to help me when I purchased my 2003 3.0 V6 Cabriolet. Brilliant car - but up for sale due to arrival of small screaming thing..

Driven a couple of S4's - and now have discovered a friend is selling his 2004 Avant - miles are a bit high at 85k - but I know and trust him and he's had the car for 4 years - so I might overlook the high miles and buy.

Question - everyone bangs on about how bad the fuel consumption is - 20-23MPG average - but is it really that much worse than on on my 3.0 litre in the real world?

Off the top of my head I'm seeing about 29MPG motorway and easily as low as high teens in town..

Thoughts greatly appreciated..

I am averaging 17mpg in my S4 cab. Thats mainly town driving, & can get upto 25mpg on a motorway run.

Hey,

That doesn't sound too bad - remarkably similar in fact - is yours the manual or tip? If I remember correctly the final drive is higher on the auto?

Cheers,

David (Edmond)

Hi David,
Mine is a Tip, spend most of the time driving in 'manual' round town when not stuck in traffic.. and left in auto for motorway. I have come from M3 & Impreza's & whilst its more thirsty than they were, its not that bad given its a V8 and not the lightest car in the world..

Cheers

I know - I could not believe that my cab basically weighs the same as an Avant.

Driven the Tip - like it a lot - I don't do much around town so could survive with a manual

Yeah the cabs are heavy, because of all the nice girders they put in to replace the roof!

my cab weighs around a ton and three quarters but when me and the wife get in, it doubles....
