Buying advice required please .........

Hi all,

Am just about to sell my Land Rover Discovery and have been looking at A4's ..........

I think I'll be looking for an Avant, but wouldn't ignore a nice saloon.

I'll have around £5000 ish to spend.

Petrol or diesel, no preference.

The 2.5 Tdi Quattro has caught my eye so far, but then have also seen a lot of nice looking 1.8T's too!

Is there a "best" engine to get in terms of reliability, any major know issues with any of the engines, though it best to ask before I bought one rather than after!

Mileage ...... have seen some 2.5's with a LOT of miles on 170K +, I'm wondering what you could expect a well maintained vehicle to do? Is 170K a reasonable purchase or is it near the end of it's life?

We have 2 2.5Tdi quattro Avants 03 manual and 04 auto both about 100k and would think this would buy similar but they are rare .I prefer the manual but the 2.5 is not everyones fav and I suggest you have a good test drive before considering one and check for good history incl cambelts
