I'm new to the forum so hi to everyone.
Not strictly a B7 question but I've been reading back throught he posts on here for a few days and I'm hoping that someone wil
l have the answer amongst the wealth of knowledge that members obviously have.
So, found a scratch on the rear of my car the other day. Guy at halfords recomended Tcut colour match stuff (blue), I used it and it did a great job of masking the scratch.
Then after a good wash and a coat of mer polish I noticed a couple more smaller chips on the bonnet so I decided to try the tcut on these. Didn't do much but I now notice that in a certain light the paintwork is different where the tcut was.:aargh4: Darker less shiney etc. (it was removed straight away as per instructions)
My question is, is there anything I can use to return it to original condition. More mer, Clay bar, original Tcut etc.
Any help would be greatly apreciated or if you could direct me elsewhere for help.
By the way it IS an audi A4 B7 2.0tdi 170, I'm not just hijacking an audi forum.
Thanks

Try some AutoGlym polish and then some deep shine. Might work?

I had exactly the same problem a while ago after using T Cut.
T Cut can be very abrasive so I wouldn't use it again, in fact I'd bin it!
To get the paint shiny again I used Meguairs Deep Crystal Step 1 Paint Cleaner, followed by Autoglym Super Resin Polish. It didn't repair the paintwork completely but masked the marks very well, so much so that you wouldn't notice it unless you knew it was there and went looking for it.
I was very happy with the result and I have serious car OCD!:biglaugh:

T Cut is abrasive so it basically removes the top layer of paint and hence removes/reduces scratches.
Because the top layer is gone, so is the shine. If you must use TCut it should be a matter of course to then polish the same area to protect and replace the shine.
I use the both the turtle wax colour coded polish with the chip stick which isn't too bad. Also have a large bottle of Autoglym Super Resin Polish.

I used the same product, on a minor scratch and had the same problem as you on the bonnet of my Garnet red Audi A6. I know next door to nothing about cleaning cars. I prefer to let the supermarket car wash do all the work for me. But as the car was then only a couple of months old I thought I'd better try to keep it clean.
I was chatting to a local lad who runs his own modile valeting business he sorted out the problem using stuff called Dodo Juice (Stange name but superb product) This UK based company makes a wide range of car cleaning products. The very fact that they are a UK based company makes me want to support them. Check them out via a quick google search.
From memory I think the stuff he used was called "Lime Prime" I know he used a wax called Orange Crush on top of the lime prime. The only problem was the bonnet then looked so good and the rest of the car so poor that I had to get him to do a full valet and polish up the entire car. Oh well at least I got a gleaming motor in the end :biglaugh:
Hope this helps.
Kind Regards.
Paul.

Thanks for all the quick responses.
I had a go at polishing out the problem this afternoon with more 'Mer' as that's what I've got to hand. Seems to have done quite a good job but I'll wait till the sun shines on it again to see for sure.
If not I'll try some of the other products you lot have mentioned. In fact I think I'll try then anyway coz I'm not overly convinced that the mer is bringing out much of a shine in general. Either that or I've just got a dazzlingly shiney motor to begin with.:approve:

Thanks taker921
I've now been out and bought myself a clay bar, got the detailer, wax and some microfibres. just wondering to myself now whether I need tar remover too or whether the clay bar will take care of that?
Hell, I don't know what's happening to me, I don't think the last car I had saw so much as a bucket of water in the 6 years that I owned it never mind all this stuff.
Early mid life crisis!?!

I have some of this stuff which works very well although it was nowhere near that price when I bought it! You can probably get a similar result from a clay bar.
