Evening guys and girls,

I've just purchased a A4 Avant TDI Black Edition and i am currently awaiting delivery.........god i hate waiting. I popped into the dealer today to drop off some paperwork and had the chance to have a propper look at an Avant in the showroom.

On of the benefits for having an estate (but not the reason for buying), is to transport my 43Kg Choccy Lab from place to place. I was surprised looking at the boot on the Avant that its not all that big, especially in terms of height.

Does anyone use their Avant coe Canine transport, if so i'd appreciate their feedback.

My Avant is an infrequent K9 transporter - I have a Border Terrier so in terms of boot:doggy size ratio, its like a horse box back there and he is more than happy. Tends to slide around a bit in the hard corners though...

Should be plenty of room for a Choccy Lab - might have to remove the parcel shelf/net cartridge if he likes to rest against the back seat and look out!

Border collie and cocker spaniel regulars in my Avant boot...... no major issues.

As said above, remove the load, this gives much more room. I usually remove the load net too, and just put the headrests up a notch to stop doggies vaulting over!

Female Ridgeback occasionally goes in my mine but do remember to put a sheet or something over the back of the seats and the floor. Even with the aforementioned sheet it took me over an hour to vacuum fur out of the carpet on the opening compartment on the left hand side of the boot wall.

On another car, not the B8, I had to replace the boot carpets and the boot plastic trim panels because the previous owner had put a dog in the boot which had made a mess of the carpets and caused the boot to smell pretty bad as well. Much better to get a boot liner or put a sheet down IMO. Saves making a mess of the car and it's better for future owners as well.

My dad drives a b6 and carries his 3 setters around most of the time! They are big dogs, two English and a Gordon.

I'm sure the b8 boot is no smaller.

Thanks for the replied guys, i'm sure Max will be ok in the boot, feel much better now i've heard from those. I'm going to buy the Audi Reversible boot liner with the bumper flap so keep things in order. Thankfully he doesnt malt too much!

I`m thinking of getting an Avant for same reason, 2x dogs. Speaking to an audi salesman he mentioned B8 has more of a slope at the tailgate than earlier models so B7 would have a bit extra height up to tailgate hinges. Not much of an issue for my dogs, but i agree with the need to remove the shelf for extra room.......and save it from teeth marks !

How does your chocolate lab not molt very much! i had one and he shed a LOT of hair daily!

He's not too bad overall but does have 2 good shedding sessions a year! I was surprised how much the boots to slope down at the back. Fingers crossed, all should be fine.
