I am just wondering if I am alone on this: my car sounds like a tractor when I start up....you can hear a rattle/vibration..it is hard to describe exactly. My neighbour commented on it yesterday. It sounds better after a trip but it still could be more refined.
Cause for concern or the nature of the car?

What is the engine model code?
The BLB has a problem with the chain driven oil pump. If you have one of these engines it would be a good idea to get it checked out just for peace of mind.

I would also advise getting it checked out ASAP as that is a common and very troublesim ( not spelt right ) problem with these engines
If its a petrol engine might I suggest that the brake servo pump diaphram is on its way, mine sounds similar to what you describe... noisy as hell , clatters alot when cold but the noise goes once car is warm... diaphram is rigid when cold and bangs the servo pump...

Yes it's a 2.0TDi...as listed in my sig under all my posts. Bringing the car in to have it checked out as soon as possible. I am seeing a big black plume of smoke on a cold start also...this only lasts a few seconds however.

Sorry, I use TapaTalk and they do not show signatures. The fact that you have not got it booked in already means you are treading on thin ice. I understand that people need their car on a daily basis but it really bugs me when they break down due to not getting the car seen in time as normally these type of customers are the ones that ring everyday putting pressure on everyone when the problem could have been fixed quicker if THEY had got their finger out and got it looked at earlier !!
Ok, rant over, I think I know another thread that the statement would fit in nice.

How do you know? (That it's a 2 litre)
I doubt whether any V6 3.0TDI would ever sound like a tractor unless something was seriously wrong. I heard a 2.0TDI at tickover at the shops the other day and was amazed at the difference between that and the 3.0TDI.

I think the 3.0 tdi sounds horrible. They have such a hard start up and sound like a bag of bottles

What a strange posting. Are you trying to stir up trouble for its own sake or what? Utter nonsense but nice try and will only be believed by the envious.

And my opinion is as equal as yours - I'll just ignore the baiting bit of your post and treat it as juvenile.

Touchè Rocket, I took your opion on board and give mine. Stop being so delicate. Lighten up and just say "A4 Lad, your full of krap" and we can kiss and make up !!
PS - I am a big kid though, you have got me worked out there ;)
