I had to go up to London (from Bristol) for the weekend, and it used a whole 1l bottle of oil for the return trip. I wasn't impressed. I haven't had a proper look yet (I was rowing in London, so was pretty knackered and it was dark when I got back to Bristol) but there wasn't anything underneath it yesterday morning. Any ideas? It had a leak from the timing cover a while back (Autumn 2009), but usefully my Haynes manual is at my parents' house in Salisbury.
It's not been burning oil like this before, but I was wondering if it's something to do with being run at high rpm for extended periods of time? Does the oil pressure increase with higher rpm, which could force oil out from somewhere?
