Can anyone help? Every time I start my audi up with on problems.I drive along for a few miles, then it starts misfiring. After a while it stops. Then a few miles later it starts again. Each time I take it to the garage theres nothing wrong so the mech. just gives me a strange look.Ihave kept it fully serviced and well looked after.

Are the distributor cap and rotor arm new or with minimal/no signs of arking, this can cause odd effects and are often not checked by garages. Check colour of spark plugs, are any black (probably not firing) or bright white (over-heating). Check condition of plug leads, dirt oil etc, any nicks, any signs if rubbing on engine covers etc. If you can get a compression tester check each cylinders compression cold and dry (all should be the same if not rings or valves gone) then with a small shot of oil ( there should be no change or rings could be gone ). I assume fuel system has been flushed and in good condition.

Best of luck
