Hi All,

Just a quick question chaps...In my B7 the left control on the MFSW used to skip to the next track (when listing to music). In the B8 it opens the menu in the DIS but when I have my HDD connected in the AMI I have it playing on random so do not want the menu to select a track. I just want to skip. At the moment I have to reach down the the skip button just below the gear stick.

Is there anyway to change the function of the steering wheel control? Obviouslt if I want to enter the menu to select a track from the DIS I will press the menu button so that function needs to remain.

Thanks all,

Russell

I'm also surprised that when the DIS is not in phone or radio/media mode, that pressing the left roller has the same effect as pressing the mode button, you'd think would be fairly sensible to make it have a different function ... not seen anything in the menus to change it, dunno whether VCDS gets involved at that level ...

The worst thing is that "next track" and "previous track" are not even accepted as commands by voice control... even though they are, bewilderingly, part of the MMI voice control training course.

So I am guessing that it is not possible to change this?

Real shame as when you are on it with the music up enjoying the country lanes it isn't the most convenient thing to reach down to skip a track :(

As long as the DIS display isn't in phone or radio mode, then spinning the left roller down twice then pressing it acts as track skip, it's easier in practice than it sounds while keeping your eyes on the road ..

It doesn't acutally act as skip track. It is selecting the next one down from the list. If you are using the mix function, which I always do as I have 250gig HDD in there) then all rolling down does is bring up the menu of the album you currently listing to and not the next random track :zx11:.

Yeah, you're right. I tend to listen to whole albums or playlists, rather than on random mode, so skipping to next sequential track rather than next random track is good enough for me if I get bored of the current track.

I've also been trying to solve this annoying issue for over a year with no joy. Very annoying for something so seemingly simple. Christ, even my wifes Renault can do it from the MFSW!!!!!!:aargh4:

It's too smart for it's self :p
