Hi all,

Just discovered my lighter & socket in the front centre console doesnt work properly and keeps loosing connection whenever i have anything plugged in.

Noob question but, how do i get it out?

Do i need to take apart the console to get to it?

Also, any ideas how much an OEM part is?

Thanks!!!

Just while we are on this note. Is there anyway to code or setup the cig lighter so that it only powers up with the ignition on as when I get out and lock up the car, my iphone charger still stays lit up and as I only use the car at the weekends, if I dont remove it, it will possibly flaten my battery

There is no coding for the lighter, you must reposition the power supply, from the 30 terminal position to a 15 terminal position

Is this easier said than done?

I'd like the opposite in my B8; at the moment the sockets switch off immediately when the ignition is switched off. I'd like it to stay on (to power a 'fridge in the boot) for a couple of hours at least.

Looking through my wiring diagrams, the power to the sockets is controlled by one of the body convenience modules, I wonder if there is an adaptation channel I can alter to give a timed shutoff. Time to fire up VCDS and have a play I think...

Is this easier said than done?Quite a simple job, remove the power supply (red on blue wire from fuse 33 on the fuse board and find a suitable ignition powered fuse e.g fuse 36 or 37 which are powered by the x-contact releif relay

Kenny, that is absolutly great ! Ill have to fire up the laptop to hit the big thank you button for that one :)
Would I just solder it onto the back of the wire of fuse 36 ?
I am still using the same fuse for the cig lighter correct ? I am just changing its source ?

you can solder it onto the black on yellow wire FROM fuse 36 just make sure you solder on the right side of the fuse,in other words remove the fuse to see which wire

Will do, was considering doing it now but I just popped in Killzone 3 so I will do it later :)
Thanks again Kenny

Adding coal to the tempting mod list, what you guys would be really tempted with is the cig lighter out of the rs4. it is a rotating affair where the little tray currently is and push button engine start button where the current cig lighter is.

I've seen one and it looks so cool. Wouldn't know how to wire in the push button start though.

mmm, that is nice. I wonder how much it is for the switch ? Wiring it up to the starter switch would be easy. You would just take a feed from the origanal ignition switch for the cranking and loop it into the switch ( Kenny would probably know exactly which wire ) and then its a case of using the illumination feed from the cig lighter.

Nice find Ben :)

:confused:Slight deviation but my lighter socket is dead yet no fuse in the side of the drivers side console has blown, all was OK until I fitted some aftermarket I pod thing and thought it had just blown the fuse but non have gone :1zhelp:.
