Annoying squeek changing from 1st-2nd

Can anyone help me with an annoying squeek that sounds like metal rubbing against rubber when changing from 1st to 2nd?

It is definitely something something to the left hand side of the gear stick.
How would I get to look under the console - ashtray out and pull?

Car is faultless otherwise.

Any help appreciated.

Sourced the problem. Creaky gear knob.
Any suggestions/common problem?

The fix for me (for future searches) was to ensure that the gear knob is on tight. :o

It seems tight enough but a bit of brute strength has made everything good.
