Hi everyone,
just bought a Audi A4 1.8T S line Quattro convertible, only had it 2 days and love it but having a few problems... Anyone have any ideas why battery would be flat? Drove fine yesterday but would not start this morning? Thought I might have left something on but checked and havent. Battery according to previous owner not a year old yet? I had the sat nav on yesterday, would that drain it?
Any ideas welcome.
Thanks

Could be your alternater not charging the battery get that checked and get a fault code scan done on the car see if any faults codes
If its less than a year old its under guarantee!sounds like a likely story, get a free battery check at one of the tyre chains.

Thanks guys... Had to have AA out to get me on my way : he tested battery and alternator said both o.k??? And maybe I needed a bigger battery? Maybe get a bigger one at the weekend and see if that resolves it... Hope so!!!

Even a new battery can have a dead cell. Was the receipt
for the 'year old' battery in the service folder?

How did theAA man check the battery if it was flat?Sounds faulty to me and I would replace ASAP Local Scrapper does good ones for £12 guaranteed!

Just to throw in a random for you. I had a mystery battery drain on my car. Battery checked out fine after charging, alternator fine, no major current drain after car shut down.
Luckily one night I parked the car rear inwards towards the front door after unloading it and just left it rather than turn it around. Went downstairs during the night and the brake lights were on. Faulty brake light switch meant brake lights would come on randomly during night, stay on and drain down the battery so no start in the morning. Had me pulling my hair out for weeks - just my experience and in all probability wholly unrelated, but on the other hand....

Thanks guys
The AA man got it started then tested battery and said it was charging o.k? then alternator? He did say battery was a bit small for car.. Not got reciept for it.. But previous owner said only a year old? Did it again a week later and noticed it was when Ive had been in boot.. AA man did say it was a common fault that the boot light can stays on? So taken bulb out and see how it goes?

So a faulty switch then?Perhaps you can confirm by touch If the the bulb is hot when you open the boot it must have been stuck on.AA man knows but I have never heard of this before .Glad the batterys OK

Check your glove box bulb.My glove box had broken arm behind lid, this caused plunger not to act corrrectly causing permanent 12v to bulb.
Worth a look. Remove side panel, located left hand side of your glovebox.
