Just moved over to a B7 3.0 tdi from a B4 S2.
Totally different animals, had to sell the S2 because my better half wouldn't drive it!
The B7 a great car, but you can see where the bean counters have cut costs in the 11 years difference inbetween the 2 cars :(
The B4 S2 (that I totally rebuilt over a 12 month period) was built really well, the B7 looks well built until you peer under the covers, then you see where the cheap-skates have skimped on trim quality etc.
The most alarming (so far) has been the skimping of a decent scuttle panel cover to protect the battery etc. The B6 has them but they deleted them from the B7 to save a couple of quid. Result is blocked drains and corroded servos etc.
I removed my battery (the day I got the car!) to dig out all the leaf mould, sycamore seeds etc and clear the bloked drain holes. Never had to do that on the S2!

Another cheap unit is the rear wash wipe - corrosion and failure on a 6 year old car? Ridiculous!

Anyway - saying that, I do like it very much, just needs a bit of tlc to make it right.

Also - If A8 tech reads this, can he PM me (I cant PM yet, not enough posts).

Thanks
Alex

Thanks for that - the torque is great, but I feel a remap will be on the cards at some point (what's the point in having all that un-realized potential!!??) :p
