Spare wheel kit

Took a look at an A4 Avant I'm looking to buy yesterday. There was a gap in the moulding that holds the spare wheel tool kit - and quite a large one at that. It looked as though everything was there - jack, winding lever, alloy wheel key etc.

Should there be anything else big in there? (It was a sort of slightly curved space, across most of one side of the moulding.)

Ok, that makes sense. Do they leave a gap just in case?

yes, they leave space, but its the wrong shape and mine doesn't fit.
