Car problem, juddering, urgent

Hi guys. My car is 2005 a4 s line, 140hp 2.0 tdi. It is blb engine. Has the gear driven oil pump conversion. Car has been running great. Tonite I just washed my car with jet wash. Goin up the carriage way it just lost power in 4th gear. No warning lights. Brought car to standstill and it revs fine, right up to red line. Goes in to gear perfect. Clutch feels fine. When I put it into gear and move off it judders real bad and can just about get it into 2nd and still judders like mad. It smokes and awful lot too. The smoke is black and it is puffy. Again idles fine and recs to ref line fine, with not much smoke.

The car was low on fuel with 15 miles left on dash. Filled it with a gallon from a container. No difference.

I have s retrofitted hid kit. Could this have shorted something when jet washing it.

Or what you guys think?

You have to start with a fault code read to get an idea of what has gone wrong.

Thanks for quick reply. I know it will hard to diagnose online here with out fault codes. However could this sound like an injector gone? Or possibly picked up some dirt from the fuel tank as fuel was low.

Just relying on other peoples experiences they have had. Could this be limp mode or is there a warning symbol for it.

It doesn’t sound like a failed injector but it could be any one of a number of issues from a failed brake light switch, coolant temperature senor or a disconnected boost hose.

This morning it started fine, no problems. Drove fine for about 300 yards and then same problem. Wasn't as much smoke though. Going to put a fuel tank of diesel in with some injector cleaner and let it idle for a while.

Will phone my mechanic in the morning. He is a vag specialist. Hopefully it's nothing major.

Just to update. Seemed to be poising boost. Mechanic says needs a new egr cooler.
