View Full Version : 2.0 Diesel Service Intervals
My car is telling me it needs an oil change at 18700 and a service at 19200 ish..... so I am going to book it in for a service at 20000
Can the car be set by the dealer to regular service intervals, if so..... how frequently will it need an oil change/service.

I had the same. I took it in at the lower mileage and they 'did both'. I asked them to set it to the annual service at that point as I was only doing 9000 miles per year .

Sounds like you're on the variable servicing regime?
If it were me? I'd get it done BEFORE the service is due not after and get all the work done at the same time.
Depending on how you run the car / age / mileage etc etc you might wana consider putting her on to the fixed service intervals? :beerchug:
Just dug out my service book....
If the long life service is not applicable, use Audi Inspection Service intervals
Oil change every 12 months or 9000 miles! Thats not very long?
Inspection every 24 months or 19000 miles
I bought my car with 13000 miles on the clock.
So presumably with 30 mile cross country A and B road commutes I should get 19000 out of each oil change on the long life service??

Hi chaps, may I ask you how much you paid (or have been quoted) for the first service? Personally I have found the local dealer's request of £ 289 for what is essentially an oil&filter change and a mere visual inspection quite extortionate.
Their "this is an Audi, sir" comment was the icing on the cake!
Cheers

I received the same service for £190.00. If you do not challenge the main dealer they will always charge you the first price. The first price is what the unsuspecting trusting guy who rarely challenges the bill, who assumes he is getting a fair price, who has been a loyal customer but finds his wallet is easily pried. Sort of guy who stops in the street and agrees to sponsor a family of duck billed platapus who lost their home in a freak storm. Don't do it, tell them you are phoning for the best price and will call back.

Thank you Niko, right said mate! Today I went to a couple of non-Audi dealers close to where I work and this is what I have been quoted:
- Toyota à £ 99
- Volkswagen à £ 147 (but before haggling it was £ 189)
- Same Audi dealer as in my previous post à £ 230 (without any “This is an Audi, Sir” comment )
Of course both Toyota and VW will use Audi approved parts, which will allow me not to invalidate the warranty. Personally I wouldn’t mind to pay a little bit more to get my A4 serviced by VW in order to keep things “within the family” but there is no way I will pay £ 230 (or £ 289) for such a simple job on an almost new car for the sake of having the four rings stamp on the first page of the service book. I would rater support the duck billed platapus cause! Or am I missing something?
Cheers
