I have just received my VCDS cable and software. I originally got it as I had an engine light showing on the dash which has since gone out (Discussion on another thread). I have seen that people have used VCDS to alter the settings of the car, e.g. disabling the passenger seat belt light. Can I just ask what can be done and how do I do it?

Cheers

Hi, where did you order your software and cable from? I was thinking of ordering it too.

I got it from a guy on eBay who sold his Audi and has now got an Aston, the swine!

Hi Allan, Firstly you need to establish if the cable and software you have are the original or a copy. If it is a copy then you cannot use any other version of the VCDS software, if you download a copy from their website (Ross-Tech), then you will kill your cable. :p

Have a look here at what the original software is capable off.

I would suggest having a good read up on this otherwise you can damage something!
