Well after much thought i eventually did the carbon trim detail on my scratched silver interior trim, after seeing Masonic's thread, Quite impressed did not put the 2 silver tabs on the ashtray tho, gonna see how that looks for a while.
I also solved a rattle issue. Ever since i have had the car i have had a metallic rattle from the ashtray, took out the insert but could find nothing and there has never been anything in it, when i took it out today i discovered 2x 50p and 1x 10p pieces tucked away where the door goes when its open.
Just put it all back together, will see if its as good as i think it is in the morning as i put it all back together in the dark. :biglaugh:

Looks brilliant,
Nice clean appearance.

No not really, there is a link somewhere to how to remove trim, which was very easy, i took the whole ashtray out which meant removing AC controls etc but it was easy, took about 3-4 hours in total, recommend use of hair dryer to form round bends and curves. wish i had taken photo of before and after, the silver ally trim was in poor state from previous owner.
Here is link for removal

Looks absolutly brilliant. Only my opion and this is only going by photos obviously but I think it might look better just the trims done rather than your gear knob and front & rear ash tray too but as I say, thats only by looking at your photos, it might look stupid not done in the flesh. Great job and very OEM looking ;)

I wasnt sure either but im glad i did, for me i think it looks better, it was either all of it or replace the damaged sections. Does look better in the flesh as it were. Kept the chrome detail around gear surround, may put back the 2 chrome strips back on ashtray... we will see.

It looks vey nice, I did this to a non VAG car I owned about 14 years ago, I must admit this carbon effect does look better now.
Well done:approve:
