I need to replace my right hand fog light. I have used the search function and note that it is not simple. Can anyone give me any tips?

Can someone confirm that the bumper does not have to be removed?

Someone else said the belly pan has to be dropped. How is that done? Will I need a pro?

Many thanks.

When i changed the bulbs in my fog lights i just had to pop the plastiv grill surround off and then there were 2 or 4 screws i think that you remove, and then the whole fog lamp should come out!! It took me bout 10mins to change both bulbs!!!
Didnt have to remove bumper or belly pan!

Belly pan is held on with like, 4 screws. Once thats off its simply pull the old bulb out and the new one goes in!

5 minute job.

Try to remove the fog light as mentioned in another post because without a lift its awkward to remove and re-fit the belly pans even with stands there's not alot of room under there

I've had a look and there is a single screw holding in the front surround.
take that out remove the front cover and the the fog light.

It's far easier that getting under the car.

So it seems the process of replacing the fog light on an Audi A4 B7 varies between the models.

The first time I had it done, I went to an Auto Electrician who said he had to take the bumper off (admittedly to access the left hand fog only).

Some say the belly pan has to be removed.

Some say the housing itself can be removed and 3 screws revealed, which then have to taken off....so the belly pan can stay.

My replacement light arrives tomorrow and I'm still unsure how to do the job!! Can anyone give me a definitive answer? It's the right hand fog light and my car is a 2005 SE model,

Many thanks.

If you can provide a picture of the fog light and surround it may help.

S-line bumper fog lights are easy changed on the b7. Pull down and out on the plastic surrounding them. Fogs are held in with 3 screws.

Sorry only replying so late. Here is a photo of the fog light I need to replace. The bulb should arrive Monday. My question is: can it be done by just removing the housing and accessing the bulb that way? The car is a B7 SE.

Hi buddy,

Yes, the black platsic surround just unclips and behind it you will find
3 or 4 torx type screws, undo these and the light will come away.

You may need to source a torx drive to remove them.

Got the plastic cover off but there are no screws there. Can't get the light out. Why did they make it so bloody complicated?

You have got a SE people that are telling you to just remove the grill and the torx screw's have got s-lines :D
you have to change your bulb from the back of the light so will mean undoing the belly pan and changing it that way.
Some VW dealers have had a offer on laterly where they hae been changing bulbs and all you pay for is the bulb :beerchug:

i dont see why ppl dont read the op sig to see what car he has
SE either belly pan down or bumper off thats the only way to change them

s-line is the grill off and screws

very easy to drop the belly pan half hours work
