Door handle failures

Hi new to this forum, own both a Scirocco GT TDI 170 and a 06 plate Passat sport estate 2.0 TDI.
At present plagued by failures of door handles third one in the last 18 months, last one cost £260 to repair at the dealers, they just stripped and replaced it all.
The main questions are is this a common fault that VW uk will contribute towards the repair, and has there been a recall on this issue. I know that vw dont always announce a recall the dealers just fix the problem

Well known problem. Never heard of a VW recal/repair. If you search this forum a fix is here.

It is the lock unit that fails, we do quite a lot of them and it is not a quick job.

My last B6 suffered door lock issues as have alot off people on the forum. I was quoted similar to replace the door locks. I ended up selling the car with neither back doors opening!
