I'm looking to buy either the 1.8t, 3.0 or the 2.5 tdi. It will be a quattro, however all the posts that i've read seem to suggest that the average MPG is around 30 for all 3 engines. Is this correct or am I just missunderstanding?

My 1.8T S Line Multitronic (190 bhp) averages around 30mpg if that helps although this drops quite a bit to 27mpg during winter and heavy city traffic. I also only fill it with the premium unleaded brew.

Yea, that helps, any of the 3 engines will be far more economical than my current car. But that does point me in the right direction. Thanks

For Quattro you can expect,

1.8t = 26

3.0 = 23

2.5tdi = 35

My 1.8T quattro s-line will get 37mpg on a good motorway run, 34 on a good a road run and mid to high 20's round town. It really all depends on how heavy your right foot is and how aggressive your driving style is.

All these figures are from the on board dis system which i believe to be fairly accurate.

I tend to have a light right foot most of the time. I'm currently averaging 20 from my 4.0 v8 range rover.

The 2.5 in manual can be fairly frugal if you are careful .Mine gives 35 urban and can get 50 on a run but has got a geniune Tuning Box fitted .My sons 2.5 triptonic uses much more in urban but isnt bad when cruising
