My A3 was in for service and I was given a A4 Sline for the day.
The car had cruise control, although I don't have cruise control on my own car I decided to try the cruise control out on the A4. Can someone please tell me as Im feeling a bit paranoid right now;

I was traveling in a 50mph zone at a set speed of 49mph. The zone has speed cameras (gatso) and one of them happens to 'ironically' be located on the downhill section of this stretch of road. I had the digital speed enabled on the car, which displayed 49mph in accomplice of the cruise control symbol. As I was traveling down the hill, I felt the car suddenly speed up! Although it seemed the car was stuck to 49mph, whats the chances the car actually did speed up. I decided to read my A3 manual to find out exactly how the cruise control works and it says; something to lines of the car would speed up due to the cars weight. Change down gear or use brake.
Im just baffled why the digital speed stayed at 49?
The light conditions where quite gloomy soI'm sure if the camera did get set off I would have seen a flash. I don't recall seeing a flash.
I guess 14days in counting, unless someone could put me out of my misery :(

My 2010 A4 has cruise and it applies the brakes if you go downhill, maybe you felt the brakes coming on/off? Its really subtle, but it keeps the speed precisely at the set speed, up or down hill :)

This might sound daft but did you have the cruise control on? Was the green symbol lit up? You can have cruise active and the speed will appear but until you hit the button on the end of the stalk or pull it towards you, it isn't active.

If it was green then you should be fine and as said it may have just been the brakes coming off.

yes the green light was on and the speedo was displaying 49mph. (the speed which I set it to, the speed didn't alternate or increase as I was going down the hill. Which is strange because it felt like the car was speeding up)
The only time the speed changed is when I pressed up to down on the stalk or used the accelerator or the brakes.

I am sure you will be fine..... ;)

(Fingers crossed though just in case:()

I get speed camera paranoia all the time!

The cruise control is very good at maintaining the speed you set and the auto-braking is a weird sensation even when you're expecting it.

It's probably just the feeling of the car suddenly doing its own thing raising your internal alarm.

I had a *** moment recently when I had it set on 50mph for a boring straight road which then became a bendy country road. Totally forgot cruise was on, not good! Thankfully this car handles, grips and corners well!

I use to have the paranoia a lot, but now Im not too paranoid. I guess because I drive at snails pace :)
