OK, We have all read about the balls up Audi have made with the 2.0 tdi using the BLB engine so I thought it would be interesting to here from
members who have this engine and the mileage they have on it.

So who's had no issues and what mileage are you currently on.

Lets hear some good stories for a change !!!!

I'm just about to hit 80k.

Mine hit 108k but then I did the conversion to the gear driven oil pump at a cost of 1400 quid. I did this as it was getting noisy and was fed up living in fear of it breaking. The mechanic said it was near about to go when he took the chain drive out, and with the gear drive it is alot quieter.

Im on 104k.
I plan to remove the engine in the summer to do clutch and flywheel as im getting a weired clicking noise from it so will do the conversion whilst its out. I'll do cambelt and waterpump as well.

Sure the clicking aint the aircon pump? only on real low revs ie try to pull away on tickover and it makes it as the revs hit 700- 800 rpm totaly randon clicking ticking noise

Definatley coming from bellhousing area.
Clutch doesn't slip or anything, but just want to remove it and make sure its ok.
Bit of preventative maintenance if you like.
Apart from the odd glow plug failing, its been very reliable.

Hi all, newbie to the forum, I have a BLB in 55 plate done 67k and no signs of any rattling as yet so all good.

Just a quick note to all, I think this is a good thread for people with this engine because although it was more common on the BLB, oher engine codes have suffered from the same problem using these parts.
I work for VW Group and have done for the last 5 years. I also see everything that breaks down on Audi's in the first 3 years of their existance,
The oil pump problem isnt that common in general and hasnt put me off from buying or owning one.

I hope this will cheer some people up!! After all it is an Audi and ive seen and owned alot worse cars!

104K on an 05 plate here and still going strong. Does approx 2000 motorway miles per month and I live by doing 10K oil changes but use the long life oil. So far it seems to be spot on :beerchug:
