Hi Guys,

I have a Seat Ibiza on an 03 plate. Ive got a ‘normal’ key which splits into two not the flip out variety. The remote part on the key doesn’t seem to work anymore, I’ve replaced the battery twice, once by Seat and second via going into and buying one myself off the shelf which was in a packet. It seems to work a couple of times after Ive opened the unit up and put it back together again, but after those couple of times when you press the buttons the LED light doesn’t work on the fob so Im assuming there is a loose contact whilst pressing the buttons.I dare not prize the circuit board out of the key, fear of breaking it. Anyway rang Seat up and they have got the second part to the key, the bit that holds the remote at £78. Great I thought, but they want an additional £30 to program it, which will take them about 20 minutes. Is this something I can do at home or is the immobiliser part of the bit inside the backend and needs VAG-COM? I will be using the original front bit of the key.

Any advice would be great.

Many Thanks

Jalz

The immo transponder is in the front part of the key,but you will still need vag-com to adapt the new remote

Hi Kenney,

Thanks, sounds like I need to book it in than as I dont have access to VAG-COM.... :( Oh well thought it was worth a try, I know I reprogrammed my audi key when I put it through the wasing machine, just assumed there would be a procedure for this.

Cheers

You can at least try this,
a open the vehicle mechanically with the key
b press the unlock button on the remote
c insert the key in the ignition and turn the ignition on
d switch the ignition off and remove the key
e press the unlock button or lock button of the remote
f good luck

Thanks Kenny,

Will give it ago when I buy the part. If it works great, otherwise will just have to end up spending £30
