Hello,

My 54 A3 TDI 2.0 Automatic was flat towed (metal bar) for 9 miles following a freezing fuel problem. The car now has the following permanent fault codes:

810 - Brake pressure sensor
778 - Steering angle sensor
1423- Lateral acceleration sensor

The flappy paddle gear changers also seem to have a problem. Could these faults be a result of the vehicle being towed without raising the front wheels? The car had no problems prior to this incident.

All the best.

I don't recognise those code numbers.

Thanks for checking. They were the codes the breakdown mechanic gave to me. I suppose I'll have to go to an audi garage. Would you normally recommend flat towing an automatic audi? Cheers.

With it being a 2.0 TDI it will be a DSG auto and so the official Audi information on this is

Notes on tow-starting and towing

Caution

When the vehicle is towed, the selector lever must be set to position “N” and the vehicle must not be towed for a distance of more than 50 km or at a speed in excess of 50 km/h, as the gearbox would otherwise be seriously damaged.

Did the breakdown mechanic give you those codes before it was towed to a garage ?

I would have imagined he would scan the car before deciding it needed towing away.

If so then the faults were there before the tow !
