I would like to say hello to everyone...I was told about this site by a friend of mine.

I have a Audi A4 54 plate with the dreaded engine BLB.

I Bought my Audi back last year and took out a warranty plan on the car just before christmas it decided to snap the oil chain and the casing around it and i do believe sheared one of the balance shafts from what the garage was saying.

I put it into a local garage who took on the warranty work, after a month sat in the garage yesterday an assesor came out to look at the car and said that they could not do the work on it due to it being manufacturer default i always thought that for something to be a manufacturer default the manufacturer had to annouce that it was but obviously not.

I'm not best happy with the warranty company because when i took the warranty out there was no mention of the fact that they did not cover this type of stuff.

I was wondering what would be the best for me to do put a new engine in the car or have it repaired with the kit from audi.

I would continue to argue my case with the warranty company. Every marque has its problems, and if they dont cover them, then whats the point of selling warranties ?

What annoyed me was the fact that they said it was a manufacturer default don't they need supporting evidence to prove that like a recall on the car or the fact that audi have said it's manufacturer default before they come to that conclusion.

I have asked them to provide me with what proof and supporting evidence that it is a manufacturer default and the full report of what the mechanic had given them i just think they do not want to carry out the work on the car because of the price.

At one point i was going to sell the car as it was because i have a 6 month old baby i needed transport but then thought it through and knew i would lose a lot of money selling it as it was.

If you have the money I would seek legal help as this seems very dodgy and totally unfair. Personally I think most warranty companies are just crooks and will attempt to wriggle out of anything they can.

I had the engineers report back today i wish i could upload it to somewhere so you could view it....But when speaking to the warranty company today they said that because audi modified the part they were aware of a problem with the car so on that basis they would not carry out the work.

When asked for supporting evidence on this matter they said to me google it.

That's incredible for them to say that. Can you say who the warranty company is?
