The road salt has taken it's toll on the crappy numberplate housings on the A4 and I have to replace both units and bulbs due to disintegration.

Now I have tried ZiZi LED bulbs but these throw the bulb out error, so I have put them in the Golf with no troubles.

Anyone know of a make/model LED bulb that are a straight plug n play in the B7 A4 with no resistor harnessing or the like?

Cheers

These should work. I don't get any errors with them: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Xtec-C5W-LED-Error-Free-Number-Plate-Bulbs-Audi-BMW-VW-/370253946590

Scott- I gave these a try and also trigger the bulb out warning on my A4- I guess the VW system doesn't have the bulb out warning system as LED bulbs work in my MK5 Golf.

These bulbs are now for sale here:

Plus side I got brand new bulb housings from the Audi dealer which were quite reasonable at £16 for the pair.

Hmm, that's an odd one. My VW definitely has the bulb out warning, as I've seen it. Can't really think why those bulbs wouldn't work.

I think it's down to the type of OBD system used in the b7 A4 as I have seen people use these LEDs in the b6 A4 with no problems. If anyone has fitted resistors to overcome the problem and can show me a how to would be much appreciated :)

only this one will work for your a4 b7 http://cgi.benl.ebay.be/Audi-A3-A4-B6-B7-License-Number-Plate-LED-Light-Bulbs-/350418729406?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item51969579be

I have to fit a resistor next weekend to get round a number plate bulb out caused by the led light in the camera I fitted. Will do a how to but can tell you now, the tailgate has to come apart. I will do a guide.

Have you fitted these to a B7 tried and tested? I am a bit wary of ebay at the moment as a lot of sellers are saying things work but then they don't :(

lucky I bought the whole led unit as posted by sline002,
took the old lights out and the connections inside them were
all broken apart.
so fitted the new led units there now and no errors.
cant wait to see what these look like at night :D

The rear light units are very prone to road salt, mine fell apart too.

Glad these units work error free- another retrofit on the wish list :)

I think the previous owner had problems with this too as one of the lights
looked like new an the other was a rusting mess lol.

Whoa they certainly look very bright- a lot brighter than the ZiZi bulbs in my Golf which you don't notice the reflection of.

Whoa irish, those bad boys look bright!
At first I honestly thought they were reversing lights!

Here's mine taken some time ago. Its not shown in the picture but they actually form a nice bright white light cutoff line across the rear of the back bumper:approve:
