Right today we took the OH's car (57 plate 105 tdi 42,000) back to the dealer because there were one or two things needed doing and 2 the warranty ends in about 7 weeks, wanted to get it sorted, now the problems where/are
1, ipod adpator is faulty, as in the sound only comes out of the right unless you play with the ipod and then it will come out of both
2, The OH has said the clutch is doing funny things (i havent noticed, but i dont drive it much in the town)
3, This is the smallest but by far the most annoying fault, the steering wheel is very slightly right hand down, not much but when driving in staight line it is very noticable
Now i dont think there is much if anything wrong with the clutch, the other 2 problems i could sort myself, BUT as we spent £11,000 on it with 26,000 miles on the clock i dont see why i should have to buy the ipod job, so in it went, OH took it in and after they tried to tell her it was a wiring fault (WHICH ISNT COVERED??) she said so why if i move the ipod a small amount does it work, the reply was ok the tech missed that, it is the dock and we have one in stock, im sure they just tried to fob her off
anyway on to the steering wheel, i would say its prob 2 splines out, the service manager told her she was being very picky and they wouldnt do anything about it, then said the car needs pads around (it doesnt as i took all the wheels off and checked them 2 weeks ago)
the OH was thinking about getting a mk6 GTD in july from the dealer in Plymouth but after the way she was treated with after care she is now thinking about an A3, her main worry is if she spends 20k on a car will she still be treated like a numb blonde?
The only reason we went to the dealer is because she wanted piece of mind, to say she was upset after is an understatement, she was almost in tears because of the way she had been spoken to
sorry to rant about it, has anyone had any sim problems with a car still in warranty?

O bugger, my endless task to defend dealers seems to fail when the VW brand is mentioned
Not good at all and even when faults may not be covered by manufactures warranty then this is where the dealers commitment comes into its own.
Taking into account your history with the dealer and new car purchase then its in there interest if you are a loyal punter to resolve the repairs ie reduced parts/ labour or goodwill gesture
I do not like to hear about poor service and in general dealers are only as good as the staff they employ, for the few who just turn up as its a job then I have no time for them but there are so many who try there hardest to provide the best service and often go without any reward or praise.
Another point which must be made and is becoming more common are the owners who use other workshops and then outside of warranty demand the dealers to contribute, now I have absolutely no ******* time for these pricks lol

I know mate im not bad mouthing all dealers, what gets me is ive been in the motor trade for 18 yrs but when we got this car to retain a good trade in we decided to leave all work to the dealer, TBH the steering wheel is just annoying but the SM way of dealing with it has made it so we will replace the Golf with an Audi instead of a MK6 Golf, if id have taken it in then it may have been different but it shouldnt be that way,
A8 where do you work? in future i will bring it up to you, that way we keep the dealer history and it will be worked on by someone who actually cares about the car and the customer
sorry this has just really annoyed me to breaking point, OH is still a little upset, and has also said they wont touch it again....... thank god i wear the trousers in this house (but she picks them lol)

If you are considering a new car then I would seriously look at the new A1
Top end of the M6 and we eat pies:biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::bigla ugh::biglaugh:

+1 for the A1, smart looking little cars in the flesh and seem sturdy enough :) I test drove the 1.6tdi and it seemed gutsy enough.

Crewe is very very close to Baylissboy too, and I use his dealership and can wholeheartily recommend them if A8's place is too far oop north.

Lol has my OH pm'd you? before we got her Golf i was thinking of getting a monaro, may have had enough for a VXR8 but after driving her Golf and reading about some common problems with the VXR's i decided the drive of the Golf and MPG out weight the arseout fun of the VXR, i wanted something i could rely on as my daily drive
if i could afford 2 cars i would have the VXR as my TOY or maybe a westfield :approve:
i think we are off to plymouth Audi at the weekend to have a look at some, i think she should keep the golf but its up to her TBH
