Hi all,

Hoping for a bit of advice.Over the past month or so I have intermittent warnings about my nearside rear lights. Most common is the reverse light but I have also had warnings about the brake light. I have never had a warning about the standard rear lamp.

When it warns me that a bulb is out I check it and it is out but after a few minutes or more it normally sorts itself out and comes back on. The fault clears from my dash and all operations seem normal. I have also cleared it by giving the rear cluster a good old fashioned smack with the flat of my palm (normally gets things working).

Does anyone have any ideas? Are there any connections that may be loose? I was wondering if the cold weather was affecting it. (It was worst when in Scotland over Xmas)

Cheers

SJ

I would clean all the bulb contacts in the light unit and change the bulbs for a known brand.

Hi there, have you checked for or seen any condendsation at all?

The reason I ask is there have been numerous complaints ofthis and also many bulb out warnings due to terminal corrosion etc.
Gotta be worth taking them off and having a look?

Good luck:beerchug:

Hi guys,

I haven't noticed any condensation at all. I'm assuming that the bulbs are of good quality as I haven't had to change them in the 2.5 years I have owned the car but the problem has only surfaced in the past month.

I will check for corrosion and correct seating etc at the weekend.

Thanks for your adviceSJ

Replace the suspect bulb.
