Okay, as some of you may have seen from my other thread, I am currently repairing my girlfriends accident damaged A4 1.9TDi which is going to require a new receiver, new air-con pipes/hoses unless I can get the existing ones repaired as I stripped the threads trying to remove the damaged receiver, and a recharge.
Problem is that the air-con wasn't working properly before the accident so I'm not sure how much effort it is worth putting in on this - the clutch would engage and the compressor would run and the receiver did get warm but it didn't seem to produce much if any noticeable cooling effect in the cabin. A scan revealed no faults logged in the air-con ecu. I had the system emptied and refilled on one of the kwik-fit automated machines but the cost for that was refunded as it made no noticeable difference as far as I could tell and the machine had a broken printer so they were unable to confirm whether or not it had achieved a ten percent improvement or not!
Does anyone have any ideas what the fault might be as it's probably not even worth me replacing the receiver if it's then going to cost a fortune to bring it back into working order? I have searched previous threads but it seems the usual fault is for the compressor to seize which is not the case in this instance.
Thanks...
