:( My lovely late 05 Passat estate gave my neighbours and I a nasty wake up the other morning by sounding off at 3am, and twice again before my normal get up time. The remote locking procedure failed to work with the normal winking of the lights. I found many hints to try to solve this from other members on this website including seeking the damp ingress and damaged cables at various points. Also annoyingly, recently the reversing sensor alarm was also malfunctioning - sounding continuously with reverse gear engaged with no obstacles in sight!!
What seems to have been the problem was that about 4 of the fuses in the (to my knowledge) hitherto untouched fuse box were not fully inserted. Pushing these home has solved both problems.:approve: I am of course puzzled as to the cause of the problem as the car has been lovingly driven by me from new and not been driven on farm tracks or entered in the Dakar rally.
