Audi-meisters,

Could someone please give me the rough dimensions as to where the 'A4' badge is situated on the tailgate of a B8 Avant...?

Ideally measurements from the side and bottom edges would be useful.

Reason: I recently took delivery of a new de-badged A4 but after careful consideration I think I like the idea of having the 'A4' badge on the vehicle.

Also, if anyone has any experience of attaching badges to the car, please let me know if you've got any tips or tricks..!!

Cheers

I have access to a few reference sources for Audi parts and maintenance.

I'm actually considering taking off the Tdi badge on mine as they now only stick engine type on and not the size. Had I known that I'd have asked for the A4 badge only.

I was going to leave mine de-badged but it looks too bare on the back, almost like something is missing. I don't have any chrome on mine either so I think the badge might just be enough to set the back off.

What do you reckon?

I'm the last person to offer advice, I can't make my own mind up about taking off just my TDi or both sides.

I think I like the look of yours with no badges but can see that an A4 badge would add a bit though some find one badge ruins the symmetry.

Am I right in thinking the MY11 car just has the model designation removed and the TDi is the same place and size - in other words all you have to do is pull off the 2.0 leaving just the TDI?

My MY11 has the A4 on the left and just TDi on the right, it's the engine size that's no longer fitted.

I reckon no badges makes it look nice and clean. Flows more. Going to get my A4 removed at some point. But then I appreciate some folk like the Badges so its a hard one. Your motor looks really nice as it is imo.

It's definately a personal choice thing.

I had the car delivered with the badges on so I had the choice....and then I removed them all .... except the quattro one.

I can still remove that if I feel like it but for now it stays to match the front one.

I don't know if I'm imagining it, but the TDi badge on the new models looks bigger than the old TDi badge that followed the engine size. Has anyone else noticed this, or am I just having another senile moment?

No your right they are.

I don't understand the logic behind dropping the engine capacity, they say it's because newer smaller engines are as powrful as some of the older 2l so engine size is less important.:(

I always assumed size was important... :D

Engine size or badge size? ;)

A4's only really had two numbers 2.0 and 3.0. I think Audi are trying not to alienate potential environmentally concieous people from the brand. I can see that there will be some demand in the future to show how big your engine is, after all if youve paid for it, flaunt it......so I can see a return to the VW red i or red tdi badge, or differnet styling, eg you know its an s4 because of the silver wing mirrors.......unless youve retro fitted them.
