Hi Guys,

I have a 95 Coupe 2.0e ABK. The head gasket was leaking when i got it so i rightly or wrongly put in some KSeal in the meantime until i could afford the time and money to do it properly. It actually worked a treat and now runs fine, but i always wanted to do a compression test to check as the mayo is still present on the filler cap.

Got round to it today, im classing cylinder 1 as the one closest to the radiator;

1. 110
2. 105
3. 115
4. 120

Any thoughts on the readings, good or bad? There seems to be very little data available for this engine, what should the results be?

The car only gets used for a six mile round trip each day, ive done 400 miles in it in 3 months, which i suppose doesnt help?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

not a million miles out. compression test results are better the closer the figures are, rather than what they actually are, especially on an older more worn engine. sounds like it just needs a good italian tune up really.

As in a good thrash or a long run?

as in bouncing off the rev limiter in every gear, wheels alight, engine screaming, blow the cobwebs out sort of driving. get rid of all that coke in the inlet ports, burn the carbon out of the exhaust, for as long as possible. my coupe 16v ace, get driven like this everytime it goes out, and loves it. but do it with clean oil and a good cambelt.
