As above, I am very p****d off with my item not being received. It's been more than a week now, and nothing has come across. I bought an iphone 3g online a week ago and I'm getting more and more frustrated now

Has anyone else had this problem?

not here in deepest darkest wales, but then my postie is also a customer and off roader, so i get special treatment. he did say though that RM in their infinate wisdom had held back a lot of parcels just before christmas in order to get all the cards delivered and they are still sorting through the backlog. i dont know if the same applies to bristol , or not .

No. I ordered a HTC on 16 December and it arrived the next day, peak snow. Via dpd.
Tbh, any phone I've ordered has arrived next day.

Who did you buy off?

I bought the iphone on ebay. The seller doesn't seem dodgy in anyway, all his feedback is positive, and he even accepted my offer!

Zollaf: I did hear that cause of the back log, there has been delay in sending out parcels, but still that is no excuse! The only way I can think of is make a complain on ebay, or fill out the royalmail complaint form.
I've contacted the seller, and he hasn't replied to my messages, yet :(

Unless if you guys have a better solution?

Yeah, he dispached the item last Wednesday! He said it should arrive within 2-3 days, but have clearly not received it :(

I have informed ebay about this, and they are going to investigate it :)

If it helps alleviate your fears any, I ordered two CDs from zavvi. I received the emails saying they had been dispatched (separately) on 30th December, and so far neither of them has shown up...

Looks like there are some delays in the system - hopefully your phone will turn up in a day or two.

Good luck!

MF.

I had a bit of a disagreement with my postie just before Christmas who kept putting unsigned parcels through my neighbour's letterbox.

Not a problem, but I don't talk to the SOB's (apart from their fit daughter, but she's got a tubby bloke who drives a <cringe> Fiesta) added to the fact that I live on a notverynice estate....

I've not, touch wood, had anything go missing, although I am waiting for an amazon parcel from the 21st December.

Zeb - re your query, I'd get a tracking number off him, I'll be astounded if he's not sent that special, which btw, is working perfectly (I mazuma'd my old phone day before last).

i think our postie just does his job when it suits him tho, my mother forwarded some mail to my new house with 2 first class stamps on a month ago and i didt recieve it untill the following week...next time he does come to the door and my german shepherd nearly bites his fingers off through the letter box i think ill just let him!!

just had a chat with our postie. he says the problem is nationwide. apparently 1/4 million amazon parcels are sat in swansea awaiting delivery, and thats just swansea, and amazon. he reacons it will take months to sort out, hes still delivering xmas parcels. he also said next year will be worse, as apparently swansea depot is closing, so it will all come from cardiff.

Bad news :(

Royal Mail to deliver 14,000 extra evening deliveries to around two million homes as severe weather hits the UK Royal Mail has announced up to 14,000 extra delivery rounds across the UK, weather permitting, over the next four evenings.

Deliveries are planned for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening.
Around two million homes are expected to receive an evening delivery this week.
Royal Mail expects to have carried out around 25,000 extra rounds by Christmas.

This delivery programme follows the £20 million investment in additional measures to deal with what is already the most severe December weather in almost 30 years

Mark Higson, Managing Director of Royal Mail, said: “We are planning up to a total of 14,000 – weather permitting - additional delivery rounds on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening. We have had postmen and women on the streets for the last two Sundays in a row. Royal Mail is committed to doing everything possible to deliver letters, cards and parcels on behalf of its customers.”

Royal Mail is planning evening deliveries to around two million homes in total across the UK this week. This is in addition to the normal Royal Mail deliveries during the day. The authorities are doing all they can to keep major roads clear but major routes, together with rail and air services across the UK, have been significantly impacted by heavy snowfalls in the last few days. This disruption has had an impact on Royal Mail, along with many other delivery providers but remains committed to delivering on behalf of its customers and that is why these extra deliveries have been put in place.

Up to 14,000 additional delivery rounds in total will be carried out Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening to deliver as many items as possible to people in their homes. The cold spell is already considered the worst to hit the UK in December for almost 30 years (source: Met Office).

After the evening deliveries planned for this week, Royal Mail expects its people will have carried out around 25,000 extra delivery rounds by the time Christmas arrives.

The additional rounds by postmen and women, expected to serve around two million homes in total, will help:

Deliver packets and letters to those areas that have already been affected by the worst December weather in almost 30 years as quickly as possible, particularly the North East and South East of England and parts of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Give consumers in less impacted areas a second chance to receive items at their home if they were not in when delivery was first attempted.

Good news :)

Service Update for customers in the South West on Thursday 6th January - last updated 08:45 General synopsis

Higher than expected volumes meant that some air services were full to capacity last night and contingency arrangements have been implemented. Services affected were:

Bristol to Edinburgh - conveying mail from the South West of England to Scotland
East Midlands to Isle of Man - conveying mail from across the UK to the Isle of Man

These services are being supported with alternate road and sea services; however some delays to mail may be expected as a result.
Deliveries and collections

Deliveries and collections should be taking place in all parts of the South West today:)
Redelivery

We will organise a redelivery of any item we have been unable to deliver and for which we have left a ‘Something for you’ card. The easiest way to organise a redelivery is on our website at: www.royalmail.com/redelivery (http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/jump2?catId=400040&mediaId=37000673).

One of the two CDs from Zavvi turned up today, but no signs of the other one, even though the dispatch emails for them were sent out at the same time. Three of the four printer cartridges I ordered from Amazon also turned up, but not the fourth one (and typically it's the one that's currently low on ink). Again, these were seemingly all dispatched at the same time. Any news yet on the iPhone?

MF.

MFGF: Nope, haven't received the parcel yet :) Nor the seller has responded to any of my messages! Worse comes to worse, if I don't receive the iphone by 2moro or Monday, then I will inform ebay to give my money back.
I will then buy the latest Nokia N8 phone instead!

I waited way too long for this, and cannot be bothered to wait more :mad::mad:

Something as valuable as an iPhone should have been sent out Special Delivery with tracking.

The fact the seller isn't responding to emails at this stage would give me cause for concern although I seem to be dealing with more and more uncommunicative eBayers these days.

sorry to hear this mate, Ebay have got really bad for things like this, iirc a few years ago if you contacted them and said the item hadnt arrived they sorted it ASAP, now its that 10 day rule, paypal will prob be your best chance escl to a claim, it will still take time but you will get your money

i avoid using Ebay as much now as there are to many cheats that have made it unsafe to use

Eshrules

aye, lodge a dispute with PP, let eBay do their investigation which will come to nothing.

if 10 days has elapsed since you bought it, you'll be able to escalate the PP dispute to a claim straight away.

When the seller fails to respond/provide tracking, they'll refund your cash.

Thankfully, you've paid and not sold.

Heres what Royalmail sent me today!

Dear Sir

Thank you for contacting Royal Mail.

I'm sorry to hear you didn't receive any mail for a number of days recently
and I appreciate the concern this causes.

The severe weather experienced across much of the UK, followed by increased
volumes of seasonal mail within a very concentrated time period has
recently caused some difficulties to our services in some parts of the
country, not just in delivering mail but in transporting mail across the
country. Your deliveries may have been affected as a result of this.
Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience this may have directly
caused you.

During times of adverse weather we do all we can to keep mail services
running, wherever it is safe and possible to do so. However, there are
occasions where adverse weather also hampers our contingency plans.

Deliveries have now resumed in almost all areas and I trust this means you
are now receiving your mail on a daily basis, as per usual. In the
unlikely event that this should not be the case however, please contact us
again.

Finally, I'd also like to apologise for taking longer than we'd like to
respond to your enquiry as a result of receiving increased enquiries at
this time.

Regards

Bev Leese

Not "love, Zeb"! That sounds far too much like "come and get it like a bitch-funky sex machine".

Put "Boomshanka"

i dont know how it is in the rest of the country, but royal mail over here is a joke. not the posties, they are great , but the way its run. they use those silly little combo vans, which just arn't suitable for going flat out down rough tracks. most of them are missing all their wheel arches, and are basically falling to bits. one van drank a bit of water going through a ford. it still drove, but mr postie was told to drive it until it wont drive anymore. its rattling its poor little ends off, must have a bent conrod. i have to regularly check tyres, and often find bald bits on the inner edges, but they wont do the tracking, just fit new tyres, the cheapest of the cheap, that last 5k if they dont get ripped to pieces on the farm tracks they have to go down. why rm wont just spend some money on a few landrovers i dont know. if they did, they would be more reliable in these rural areas. one postie even used his own landrover in the snow, when noone else could deliver. lets just say the tips he got for turning out made for a good christmas for him.
