Hi Guys

Ive noticed a rather loud and annoying noise when travelling at around less than 5mph, full lock or when applying the brake. This only happens when it is very cold. After a while, it seems to go away.

I have recently (2 months ago) changed the front pads and discs. Any ideas?

I know we have had a lot iof snow as of late and im wondering if the grit/salt has caused the metal plate to decay and this to make this noise?

Pop the wheels off and look at the discs to make sure there are no heat spots. Brake squeal could be a sign of a sticky piston on the brake caliper. One test to rule this out is to drive the car for 5-10 miles without using the brakes and allow it to coast to a stop. Touch the brake discs. They should be cold to touch. If one of them is hot to touch, then you'll need to strip the caliper down. Sometimes a torn dust sleeve leads to corrosion. Use Lockheed red grease on the piston bore. Also check the slide bolts. You should have lubricated them when you did the brake pad an disc change. Goes without saying to use copper-ease on the back of the pads, etc. Also check for grit or stones that could be between the brake shield and disc. Again not unusual at this time of year.
