Hi everyone

I've had to replace the battery recently on my A4 resulting in SAFE being displayed on stereo now.#

The dealer wants 50 for the code - to expensive.

Wonder if anybody can help

the stereo is Blaupunkt Concert

I think the only way to get the code is from the dealer. Thats how i got mine when mine displayed the SAFE a few years back. Luckily at the time it only cost £20 but each dealers are different.

Unless someone knows whether the VAG software can obtain the code from the unit itself?

Hi,

I have the same problem, battery went flat in the bad weather and the radio now display safe. The radio code was detached from the car documentation and lost by the previous owner :aargh4:.

My radio serial numbers are -

4B0035186Q

AUZ2Z3C1126056

If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

AFAIK only a dealer can give you the code as they have to get it from database on computer system at HQ in Germany.

I was told the job is booked 30 mins labour but worth asking more than one dealer.
I don't know if a VW, Seat or Skoda dealer can get access to Audi database but worth asking.

I have changed my battery twice but both times connected a slave to aux socket in the boot.
Of course got to be VERY careful not to touch positive lead onto chassis, I wrapped in a thick padded bag as soon as disconnected.

Thanks Delta925,

I've tried a couple of internet sites but the Grundig radio fitted to my TT can only be decoded by a dealer (or someone with a VAG computer connection).

I've gone to my nearest dealer (AUDI in BATH) and they have retrieved the code (presumable from AUDI in Germany). It cost £12 which I though was good value. It took them over an hour as the radio was locked out and they had to wait until the new code could be entered. During my wait I was kept informed of progress and offered several cups of coffee.

My experience with the main dealer is that they are genuinely interested in sorting out any problems and charge a reasonable rate to perform the work. In the past I've had services performed and some small jobs done. Today was a good example of the quality of service provided. Thanks to Bath AUDI for sorting out the problem and being so friendly/professional.

audi concert radio code (http://car-radio-unlock.blogspot.com/2011/01/audi-concert-radio-code-entry.html)

In this site you will find codes for almost all car radios.

Sometimes your radio code is on a tag inside the spare tire well near the tag that has all the cars option listed on it. Take a look, might get lucky if your head unit is original to that car.

thanks...mine is old auz1z2.... I've replaced it now and got all 4 speakers working but no radio! It looks like there is an amp somewhere.

How does it get powered?

does the antenna in a4 1998 get power from stereo (amp built in) or is it just a passive antenna?
