Just been introduced to the VWAudiforum by a mate (but don't know his log-on!). We're on our second Touran. Had a TDi Sport 2.0 140ps with lots of toys as it was an ex-demo from a local dealer. That was an 11/03 reg model. Enjoyed it as a true MPV as it does deliveries during the day and drives the family in a little spare time. Bought it on apersonal finance plan. Tilt-Error.
We now have an SE 2.0 170ps with DSG (08/06 reg). The engine sounds harsher than the 140 but the performance is more than compensation! The model was configured by its first owner and with so many toys the only deficit against the Sport model is the tinted windows and dual-zone climate control. The 17" wheels/low profile tyres make quite a difference to the handling but only a limited impact on the ride. Jury's out on DSG for tight manoeuvring but a thumbs up for normal driving.
I've only driven the more powerful models so cannot comment on the smaller ones but I'd recommend the bigger ones to anyone who needs the space.
