Hi All. Total novice with no experience here. Have 2 issues that i really hope someone might know about. 1) Reverse light not working. Friend and I removed the switch, tested with multimeter, is OK. However there was no voltage when the same tester was used on the connector (wiring loom ) that connects to the switch. Any ideas?
2) Air bag light on the instrument cluster. No surprise there but as its a 3 door car, am i right in thinking that this is quite common, and is there a way to turn the blooming thing off as the light is quite bright in the dash. (have a feeling it will need to be reset with VAG COM?) I dont have VAG tools or anything like that so will either get one off ebay (suggestions?) or take it somewhere.
Thanks in advance,
Matt

You should get a diagnostic scan first of all. That will help to identify the problems.

Can't see why the airbag light is on ( whether or not it's a 3 door ) without there being a fault somewhere.

When you get a scan, then erase the error messages first and see which ones return. Work may have been done on the car (battery disconnected etc.) which will need a reset.

When you say you removed the switch, which one are you referring to ? Presumably you are aware that the 3 door only has one reversing light on the nearside, the other side is the rear fog light !

Hi Mike
Thank you for the swift response. When I said about the 3 door thing, i was told that due to the seat moving when passengers get in the back (or for cleaning!) the seat moves and the wire under the seat has a freak out. And about the switch, I got myself a haynes manual (that may aswell be in hiroglyphs for what I can understand), found the reverse switch on the front of the gerabox casing and unscrewed it.

Will check on `tinternet to see who is local to me to scan the car/system.
thanks again
Matt
