It's been a long time since I had a 4 cylinder, but I'm sure you dont need to take the rad or fan out to change this belt.
the power steering pump needs to be loosened to give slack in the belt. most of the pump securing bolts are obvious, but there is one which is quite well hidden, it is at the rear end of the pump. When all are loose, the pump moves quite freely.
Threading the new belt in may be a bit fiddly but taking the rad etc out is overkill.

You should be able to see, that bolt 13 is the pivot, the bracket bolts at the front are fairly obvious, it is the rear bolts 25 and 26 which most people (me included!) fail to find, leading to stripped teeth on the adjuster rack/pinion, ho hum..

Thanks for your help I have not as yet done it (the joy of having multiple cars). would you have any idea of the tensioning system used on the air-con belt as this had to be removed to get to the power steering belt.As i can live without air-con for a bit i cut through the belt to remove it, figuring that i can replace it later when i figure out how to adjust the tension (i know cowboy method of working but if it gets the car mobile again). I was removing the radiator more for acces as it really is tight in there around the crank pulley but i have removed the slam panel which lets the radiator pivot back a little just enough to let me get to the crank pulley.
Once again many thanks for your help....Keo :beerchug:

Hello,
The radiator does not need to be moved as you can get access from below(when weather guard panel thingy is removed). There is a bolt which is well hidden and caught me out. I kept on shearing the toothed bolt as I couldn't find the hidden one, but is shown on the diagram provided to you by the other member.
Is a bit of a bugger to get tension on the steering pump unless the car is on ramps though.
I'm in the city centre, so mine ended up going into the garage to get tensioned.
Hope you get this in time!!
