04 1.6 A3 wont start

Recently my friends wipers stopped working on her A3 (auto wipers and lights) so it was taken into a garage in her local area and now it wont start, the confusing part is it drove fine in to the garage (where it still is) but now wont start

as post title says its a 1.6 04 plate and up till this she has never had a problem with it starting. she says the fuel pump does buzz then stop when ignition is turned on which would make me think that it isnt a relay, fuse or pump from my own experience with my own vw's audis but i could be wrong

the garage want to charge her £150 to replace the fuel pump but ive a gut feeling hes at it, could the fact hes been in about the wiper motor etc cause this with them and the light being linked (im told) and being automatic?

any help would be really appriciated, ive always been a do my own work person and never had any bother in the past but this has me stumped

Hi Mate,
I am no audi expert, but I have read on here and other forums sometimes things just need to be reset.
They take both leads off the battery and hold them together for about 30 seconds, and then put them back on the battery. It works for some things and doesnt cost anything.

I repaired my wiper arms on my A4, water goes inside them and they seize up. Not sure if that is whats wrong, but they need to be stripped down and greased.
