Hi all,

I have (after a few weeks looking around!) found a 3.0 TDI (204 bhp), Quattro, 55 reg S-line avant, 62k miles :D. The car has been serviced by Audi first service and a Specialist next 2.

Any ideas on how much servicing costs might be for next 3 years at 8000 miles per year? Does the fact its a quattro cost extra? Anything major at 80/90k?

Finally can I chip it at this mileage?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Cheers.

My recent service cost me £739 at 47k. Next one is due around 62k. I needed 2 discs and normal service items. Hope it won't be as much when the next one comes around.

If i was doing around 8,000 miles per year i wouldn't even look at a diesel. I'd go petrol! You are mistaken if you think you'll be saving money going diesel. Diesel doesen't do stop start journies, they hate it and if anything such as your DPF/EGR/DMF/Injectors go, they aren't cheap to replace either.

Seriously, think petrol for such low miles.

As long as you give the diesel a good blast up the motorway every now and again it should be fine.

I remapped mine from 140 bhp to 170 bhp at 130k and its now on 156k and its not even run in yet !

If you carry on with the specialist service your looking at between £150 - £250 for £10k service, if you go for longlife your looking at £300 - £400 but the mileage you will be doing i would suggest going for annual service.

And obviously Discs, pads, tyres, wear and tear on top of those costs depending on how you drive.

Get it and enjoy!

I wish i would have got a quattro when i bought mine would have loved to see how good they are in the snow!

Bought it today:D. Thanks for the advice - I will opt for the specialist service annually.

Looks like these cars can take big miles so think a remap might be the way to go. Anyone recommend anywhere in Scotland?

Thanks again.

I have an 88,000 miles (06) 3.0TDI, remapped at 83,000. It drives like a dream and will keep up with anything. The torque and acceleration is just exceptional. go for it you won't regret it. Sorry don't know any companies in Scotland. My services were done by my trusted local garage and neither cost more than £350.

If its cheap motoring yo're after, then the 3.0 Tdi is not for you !

In August I bought my 2.0TFSI S-Line Quattro. I didn't set out to get a Quattro, it just so happened the car had that feature. However, am I pleased? You bet. We've had the worst winter conditions in 50 years; snow's been really deep and cars have been slithering all over the place - Mercs and Beemers. especially. So, how has the Quattro been? FABULOUS!!! It just ploughs through no matter what - deep snow, slush; you name it. And, on summer tyres.

I have a 3.0tdi and it has been very reliable (not one fault in 4 years). Economy around 38mpg (very fast out of town work) to 48mpg (fast but more conservative gear changes. Servicing costs reasonable (would suggest non Audi specialist after a certain age/mileage but NEVER overlook the important mileage/age replacement parts. As for the traction in snow/ice - fit winter tyres whether Quattro or not. Winter tyres make a huge difference and you'll never look back. I live in France and where I live we only get as much snow as the UK - however we don't look like lame d**ks whenever the snow arrives. Summary if you can afford it go for the 3.0tdi but as many people point out - only if you do higher mileage otherwise perhaps a petrol Quattro makes more sense. I chose diesel because it's 20% cheaper than petrol in most of Europe.
